JOIN OUR TEAM

CLEVER°FRANKE is an enthusiastic, multi-disciplinary team of 40+ people with 12+ nationalities from across the world. We are interaction designers, developers, project managers, data analysts, and others. All with a passion for what we do. We are curious about the world around us and apply the same curiosity to our work and projects.

At CLEVER°FRANKE we’re experts at creating data driven solutions, such as dashboards, microsites and physical installations; and data is at the core of all of them. As a Data Engineer you’ll be working with designers, developers and other data experts to make the most of our projects using data as building blocks.

In a project like “Voices from the Frontlines” your work entails building pipelines that transform data from tabular and geospatial datasets, in order to generate visualizations and maps using Python and QGIS. Additionally, you’ll be in charge of producing the vector tilesets to import in Mapbox, which builds a spatial data portal. In other projects, you may need to retrieve data from a client database, or connect to an existing API. Sometimes you will build a tailored database for data processing and transformation, and provide connections for our development team to generate data-driven animations. We encourage you to suggest solutions that will help our team and partners in building robust and efficient experiences.

Being able to collaborate well with others is important to us, with the project team as well as with the clients and their teams. In addition, you will focus on understanding the data needs of a project, both from a visual and implementation perspective. You make sure that the data arrives in the right format to safeguard qualitative and truthful implementation. At times, this includes building data extractions, transformations, and loading pipelines.

Our approach to data is flexible and adapted to the project’s characteristics. This means that data can be delivered to us as files, available on cloud storage systems, in private or public databases, or accessible through APIs. You will be building and maintaining simple databases or interacting with existing ones. Finding (and working with) external, publicly available open source data is often part of our work.

Quality, reproducibility, accuracy, and security are core values of our data work. Your contributions on ensuring and improving our methods regarding these will always be appreciated.
